Over the years, like it or not, surveillance has become agreater part of our lives. Some say, maybe a little too much apart of our lives. Anyway, it's here to stay and becoming moreand more prevalent in businesses and to the dismay of many, evenin our personal lives.
There is surveillance in banks, retail stores, on streetcorners, in train stations and airports, and the list goes onand on. Seems like slowly but surely someone is always watching,in many cases unbeknownst to the person or persons beingobserved. In some cases this is a great thing. At other times,it's not so great. It really depends upon what it is your doingwhen being observed.
Surveillance has been used to catch a cheating spouse or justbecause and beyond. Scary thought about how far some have gone, right? Cameras are now so small they fit inside a shirt orjacket button. It has also been used to catch those in the actof committing a criminal act. It's amazing how fast someone willsuddenly change their story when confronted with video evidence. So, there is some good to be derived from using surveillance.
Now for those that feel they are unnecessarily being surveilled, this is counter surveillance also known as countermeasures. Thisis something the observee can use to, well, fight back. It canget kind of crazy and very expensive. So the measure of privacyhas to be measured against how important it is to protect. LikeI said, it can get very expensive
